Just on the other side of the Almuñécar Peñon from Playa San Cristobal is the Playa Puerta del Mar, it runs about 750 meters up the coast until Playa Velilla.

It's also a very lively area during the summer months with live music, a long promenade and tiki bars right on the beach.
