La Herradura is one of the most popular places in the area for Parapente or Hanggliding. You will often see clusters of beautiful, multi-colored parachutes gliding slowly down from the mountains towards the La Herradura bay.

Trekking / Hiking
Explore the Parque Natural Acantilados de Maro Cerro Gordo that wraps around the Cerro Gordo point and behind. There are great walking paths that take you along the coast with breathtaking views of the cliffs and rocky shoreline. There are also companies that have guided walks that will take you into the mountains behind Almunecar.

Currently there are no Equestrian Centers in La Herradura but there is one in Almunecar.

Currently there are no bike rentals in La Herradura but there are a few in Almunecar.

Adventure Sports
You can find local Adventure Sports Companies that will take you by jeep to one of the natural parks and reserves behind Almunecar and Nerja, and guide you through specific activities. Lunch is also provided by many of the groups. Currently there are none in La Herradura but Check for Adventure Sports groups in Almunecar.
Paragliding (Parapente) / Hang-Gliding
La Herradura is the most popular landing site in the area. It’s location by the coast, surrounded by mountain ranges, allows for perfect glides that set off from high cliffs and descend down onto its quiet horseshoe shaped bay.
Most of the Parapente Centers are locataed in Almunecar.

Skiing and snowboarding can be had only a short distance away. The snowy Sierra Nevada Mountains are only a 45 minute drive from our coast.
